Ethos
Here at Toucan Play, we believe in living, learning and evolving through the practice of mindfulness in every day moments.
With Maresa’s Advanced certificate in ‘Teaching Mindfulness to young children’ and a Thesis based on the ‘The benefits of teaching mindfulness to young children to support their wellbeing’ it only felt natural to develop our philosophy around this to support children’s learning and playful experiences.
Studies have proven that children who practice mindfulness can improve relationships at home and at school, better communication, help build confidence and resilience, increase creativity, improve focus, memory and concentration, decrease stress and anxiety and support the overall wellbeing of the child.
Philosophy
In this day and age and after a global pandemic, children have a lot going on with the return of school and the business of day to day life and with an emerging interest in technology, we aim to create a calming environment that independently supports children’s interests through enquiry based learning that will best support their needs while empowering their voice.
We do this by creating a wide range of activities made available to them which aims to support more freedom of choice and flexibility and less rigid routines in order to establish a relaxed environment and to create a home aware form home. We want children to feel safe, happy and respected. Play is the key element for optimal learning and overall happiness, which is our biggest priority. We know that these years are the most important years for the foundations of a young persons development and must be supported and cared for in a stimulating environment.
